Why VariYoga?

Learn More About VariYoga  One Journey – Many Paths

Andrea and BryanVariYoga is a dynamic practice that recognizes ‘one size does not fit all’ and can be modified to meet the needs of the individual. The breath is used to link poses and sequences which range from gentle to vigorous, depending on individual ability. In addition, VariYoga classes, workshops, and teacher training series all include an awareness of alignment, breathing techniques, and a philosophical understanding of Hatha Yoga. Watch a VariYoga Introduction Video Here.

The VariYoga approach includes a therapeutic understanding and intelligently weaves together the various aspects of yoga. A clear presentation of optimal body alignment is incorporated to assure safety in the poses and create harmony in the body and mind.

VariYoga offers an array of physical, mental and emotional benefits.  You can expect to improve joint and muscle flexibility, increase strength and endurance, normalize weight, improve posture, and decrease back pain. Additionally, your mood and attention can improve as our meditation techniques help bring mental calmness and stress relief.

VariYoga is the collaborative effort of Andrea Fournet and Bryan Fowler, who meld eclectic backgrounds and have more than twenty-five years combined teaching experience. Influenced by the Traditions of Anusara, Iyengar and Viniyoga, together they created this non-dogmatic teaching approach, dedicated to respecting and helping all people discover the benefits of Hatha Yoga.

Andrea Fournet ERYT-500 is the owner of the Arkansas Yoga Center, and the director of teacher training. She has been practicing Hatha Yoga since 1983, and teaching since 1992. Andrea is well known throughout the state as the Yoga lady through her TV series “Yoga with Andrea”, seen on PBS/AETN and Jones Television. She developed and directed the yoga program for Washington Regional Hospital’s Exercise Center for nine years. Andrea was the yoga coach for the UofA men’s basketball team the year they won the national championship.

Bryan Fowler ERYT-500 is a senior teacher at AYC, and has been teaching yoga since 2001. He and Andrea together lead the teacher training program at AYC. Bryan is also co-developer of VariYoga teaching materials. He teaches public and private classes in Fort Smith and Fayetteville. Bryan is the writer and producer of the music for Andrea’s television series and DVDs, and often appears with Andrea on her show. Together, Andrea and Bryan lead VariYoga workshops, assisting individuals, businesses and corporations by teaching them how to enhance their lives and health through the practice of yoga.

While we share the common journey of life, VariYoga acknowledges the various individual paths along that journey. The VariYoga approach helps us grow strong and flexible in both mind and body, and is a wonderful vehicle for personal transformation.

Workshop hours with Andrea and Bryan count toward AYC certification for teacher trainees, as well as Yoga Alliance continuing education requirements.
